TO BEGIN
The creative challenge for Kubli was to brighten and bring balance to the house while also incorporating the Victorian architectural features. To achieve this, she interwove light, texture, contrast, depth of color, spicy hues and artful layering throughout the rooms.
In the living room, to change the scale of a bottom-heavy fireplace, Kubli layered it with details, including antique andirons, a custom ornate fireplace screen and an original painting by William Martin. The use of layering details to create balance continues with the fringe on the silk balloon shades, and the variety of fabrics and trims of the sofa pillows.
Crystal pendants hanging on the chandelier and gold-leaf detailing on the armchair also help brighten the room.
