KEEPING THE BALANCE
The entry level of the Victorian holds the library and the master bedroom. Stenciled mica lampshades, a brick-red leather chair and golden wool rug brighten the library. The rustic, demi-lune desk creates a comfortable space for working, while leather chairs tucked in the windowed turret invite conversation.
In comparison, the master bedroom's huge, tufted-silk headboard makes a dramatic, formal statement. While the many layers of the embroidered-silk draperies add opulence to the suite, the pearlized faux-finished walls engender a warm, sensual feeling. The door frames a waterfall cascading down the back wall of the patio.
In the wine room down the hall, oak planks crisscross the brick floor. The curves of huge antique wine jars complement the barrel-vaulted ceiling. Bearing sandstone faces, columns support archways into niches filled with fine wines. continued...
