But that doesn't mean they all have to be the same. "Florida architecture is so interesting, you might have round, arched and square windows in the same house, so I don't like to use the same treatments in every room," Kubli says. "In the living and dining rooms, for instance, you might want to use two design concepts, but incorporate some of the same fabrics."

Top treatments offer a wide variety of choices. "The most cost-effective is a wood cornice covered in fabric," Kubli says. "Wood or metal rods and rings are beautiful, as are medallions that attach the fabric to the wall."

Does a room have crown molding? Don't put draperies over it. "It will look like a missing tooth," Kubli says.

Linen can be another rich look. "Linen will wrinkle, of course, and you have to realize that's part of its beauty," Kubli says. continued
