Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are available in different colors, tend to be the most energy-efficient, and have the longest lifespan of available bulbs.

Don’t forget an old-fashioned light source that can create mellow, romantic moods. “Candles are another wonderful way to get light,” Kubli says. “Using direct and indirect light together with candles can give a room a wonderful feeling.” ■
