With built-ins, a homeowner is limited only by imagination and budget. "There are unlimited styles, and species of wood and other materials, as well as endless finish options," Gharakhanian says. "A project that is planned right and built to client specifications will always have more value than one that is bought as is."
Plywood is most often used for construction of the cabinet boxes, drawers, and other interior parts. For the doors, drawer and cabinet fronts, and other visible parts, just about any species of hardwood is an option. "You don't want to use anything soft like pine, because it will dent very easily,"
